REST STOP
Fall 2023
Carved from basic shapes, these clusters of occupiable spaces are designed to let in light from many angles. This gives visitors the feeling of being in nature while also having shelter and a place forest. Each structure is carved to give visitors access to rest and fuel up for the remainder of the hike. It also gives them the chance to take in the surrounding area and enjoy the views from each structure. Each structure is designed to give the visitors a different experience depending on the time of day, year and the change in weather.
The quadrilateral space on the far left is designed for the colder temperatures. Leaving two of the walls completely closed gives visitors a warmer environment in regards to the other two spaces. On the other hand, the triangular space is designed for warmer weathers to let in lots of light and wind. The open spaces and larger apertures gives the space an airy feeling. The rectangular space combines both of the other spaces. It is applicable in both the warmer and colder weathers.
