ENTANGLEMENT
Spring 2026
Encapsulating the theme of post-natural ecologies, The Entanglement is a net-zero museum that uses the Parisian environment as a catalyst for local plants and animals, such as algae and bees, to not only exist, but to give back more than they consume. The museum positions itself as an active ecological system, blurring the boundaries between architecture, environment, and living organisms.
Permanent algae-based installations are integrated throughout the entirety of the museum, while seasonal galleries showcase living environments that change in response to the time of year. These seasonal galleries are constructed from mycelium and are intentionally designed to be rebuilt every few years, with material growth supported by an attached water-based acceleration model surrounding the island.
Living walls are incorporated into select windows to provide privacy where required, while simultaneously contributing to urban biodiversity. The building itself is constructed using rammed earth sourced from the site’s basement excavation, bio-glass for all glazing, and self-healing concrete to further minimize the carbon footprint during construction. The Entanglement is a space where all living beings and systems are brought together as one, challenging conventional separations between human and non-human worlds and proposing a shared ecological future.
