COLORING NOOK
Fall 2024
This was a project done by a group of six students. It is a collection of 3 structures, and was combines to create a harmonious lounging space for students of Laurel Hall at NJIT. The audible chimes that play along with the wind invite people to sit underneath the trees. The crochet sections that are place along the trees act as a makeshift net - although it does not shelter, it servers as a metaphorical roof that divides the outside space to the concept’s space. It also allows the community to color the area by adding ornaments to hang on the net. The materials used in the project include the nautico cord, zip ties, bamboo, layered wooden circular bases, wooden planks, and decorative supplies for our interactive element which will be stored in a container. Most of these materials were reused and the area was constructed of a budget of $100. Although the project is away from the main circulation of Laurel Hall and does not obstruct or damage any surrounding trees/landscape, students are encouraged to break off the main path to relax in the space and interact with it.
